How do I get to Gorée Island from Dakar?
Gorée Island is accessible only by ferry from Dakar port (maritime station). The crossing takes about 20 minutes. Departures are every 1-2 hours. Our excursion includes ferry tickets and transfer to the pier.

Gorée Island is a UNESCO World Heritage site as a symbol of the slave trade. Beyond the House of Slaves, it is a peaceful place with colorful colonial architecture, art galleries, small restaurants, and a stunning view from the Castel.
Can you swim at Gorée Island?
Yes, there is a small beach on the west side of the island where locals and visitors swim. The water is clear and calm. It is a nice bonus after the cultural visit.
How long does it take to visit Gorée Island?
Allow 3-4 hours on the island to visit the House of Slaves, the Women's Museum, the Castel, stroll through the lanes, and have lunch. With the return ferry, plan for a full half-day.
